In A Long Walk to Water,author Linda Sue Park tells the stories of two Sudanese youths: the true story of Salva Dut, one of the "Lost Boys of Sudan," and the fictional story of Nya, a village girl. The two characters' lives intertwine to demonstrate the importance of both family and water. Park wrote the book to build awareness for Dut's program, Water for South Sudan, which installs wells in villages to give people safer and easier access to clean water.
