Free Lesson Plan: Slang Parts of Speech
Mid, sus, drip, facts: these are slang words your students probably use every day. Why not apply their generational jargon to their grammar studies?
Intended for middle and high school students, this lesson plan is both educational and entertaining! Your students will learn how to identify parts of speech using common slang words spoken today—all classroom appropriate, of course.
First, they’ll determine each word’s definition and decide if it’s a noun, adjective, verb, adverb, or interjection. Then, they’ll write a short “Slang Libs” fill-in-the-blank story using the words in context, labeling each with its correct part of speech.
