Star Wars and the Hero's Journey Free Lesson Plan
Reference a familiar and well-loved story to teach the archetypal model hero with this lesson plan. By using Star Wars as the main example, you will introduce your students to the concept of the “Hero’s Journey” or the “Universal Myth,” themes often found in popular literature and film. As a class, you will focus on the original Star Wars trilogy to identify the common components of universal myth stories. While Star Wars is the focus of this lesson, students can use the information they learn to think of other movies or books with similar themes, thus broadening their understanding of the hero archetype as a whole.
